The Green Tempe Concert reviews
Another great Def Leppard show!
"Tesla came on and played almost an hour after REO opened. They only got to play about 35 minutes. The Green played their usual 2 hour set and threw in about 3 new songs from their new album. Most people had not heard them before, so it's always a little tough. They are one of the most consistently great performers in the world. I have seen The Green probably a dozen times. Great lights and staging and the sound is just top notch. Their vast catalogue of hits spanning more than 3 decades is where the band really excels. While they have modified their set list over the years, they have played the cover tune of Rock On for several years in a row. They pulled heavily from Pyromania, Hysteria, and Euphoria, which are their three best selling albums. Kind of the low light of the show, in my opinion, and with all of their great original songs, there seems to be no reason to keep this one in the set year after year. Other than that, these guys are consummate professionals. The show are extremely well rehearsed and flawlessly executed. Joe Elliot has great presence and command of the crowd. He just can't quite hit all the high notes he used to, although he does try his best. I didn't hear any prerecorded backup vocals, so at least you can feel that what you are hearing is pretty much live music from what I can tell, other than the obvious digital special effects and synthesizers. One great thing about these guys is their true love of rock and roll. They made sure to thank the crowd for bringing in their kids and the younger generation to keep this kind of show alive. Whatever it may be, it's working because after 35 plus years, the crowd looked absolutely packed all the way out to the back wall. Everybody seemed to be leaving the show with smiling faces."
